Safety Coordinator [Australia]

POSITION
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Procurement , the Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Health and Safety Management Framework (HSMF)

  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, documenting findings, and making recommendations for improvements to prevent future occurrences

  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, inspections, and training activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential safety risks and recommend corrective actions to mitigate them effectively
  • Implement Employee Wellbeing Program
  • Work with work group to ensure audit readiness
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and legal requirements pertaining to occupational health and safety to continuously improve our safety programs
Training
  • Collaborate with the site leadership team to recommend, facilitate and deliver training programs, workshops, and safety awareness campaigns to promote a culture of safety within the organisation
  • Coach/train leaders and staff to conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments
  • Undertake training needs analysis and implement a training plan within workgroup
  • Ensure H&S Induction is completed for new staff, contractors and visitors
Site Management
  • Provide day to day administrative support as required by the business

ABOUT YOU
  • Proven work experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or food production environment
  • Strong analytical skills to identify safety risks and develop effective risk mitigation strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Competent presenter/facilitator
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records within a HSE management system

QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant certifications or qualifications in occupational health and safety will be highly regarded
Solid knowledge of local occupational health and safety regulations and best practices
