About the role
We are looking for someone to help us be a more accessible and inclusive council through communications. This role will be responsible for implementing the Accessible and Inclusive Communications Policy, providing advice on accessible communications to the organisation, setting standards and guidelines and implementing accessible communications on various engagement projects. You will also be responsible for coordinating the Merri-bek Connector program, a program which utilises community leaders from different language groups to inform, shape and influence council communications.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about accessibility, has empathy and understanding towards diverse community groups, great at problem solving and can work well within a team.
The successful candidate will have experience creating tailored communications for diverse audiences, possess an understanding of accessible communications, and have experience working and creating change in a complex work environment.
Skills and experience require to perform the role
- Knowledge and experience managing and implementing communications campaigns across print and digital channels.
- Experience in evaluating and reporting back on the effectiveness of communication campaigns.
- Experience in developing communication materials which are suitable for a diverse audience. This includes translated content and other accessible formats.
- Ability to lead and influence others to achieve better outcomes in the field of accessible communications
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with a diverse community
